Make the most of the good weather with a beautifully fitted gazebo

There are many ways to enhance a garden or outdoor space, such as with a new patio or some decking. In recent years, we’ve become increasingly used to enjoying warm spells of weather in the spring and summer months, but these can become difficult to endure if you don’t have the ability to spend some quality time outside. Therefore, a new wooden gazebo could be the perfect option for your specific needs.

Here at Tayside Construction, our skilled, experienced specialists can help you to create a stunning al fresco space that lends itself perfectly to spending more time outside. Wooden gazebos look attractive, can last for a very long time and will enable you to continue enjoying the vibe without struggling to worry about the weather. That all-important feel-good factor can be extended for as long as you want.

Needless to say, installing a gazebo can be complex, but this is one of those jobs that some people feel knowledgeable enough to do themselves. This will of course save the homeowner some money, but it could also lead to serious problems. If you’re thinking along those lines, the first thing you need to consider is the surface upon which the gazebo will be sited.

The base itself needs to be a strong, reliable one. The structure will sit very easily on almost any base when the weather is benign, but it goes without saying that conditions can change easily. You’re clearly not going to be putting a permanent structure away in the winter, so you need to site it with the worst weather conditions in mind.

The best installation starts at the very bottom!

Most gazebos are sited on concrete or paving slabs, and some are affixed to decking. The flatter and more stable the flooring, the stronger the siting will be. The area in question needs to be accurately marked out, and you will need to make sure the area is flat. If it isn’t, you may find it difficult to install the structure without a degree of buckling on the main struts.

If you buy your gazebo as a kit, which is common with new ones, there will usually be L-brackets included in the packaging. These can be used to secure the gazebo in place. As a general rule, most manufacturers advise against burying any part of the timber into the ground, as this can lead to more damage further down the line. As always, it pays to listen to the manufacturer!

Throughout the whole process, use tools and practices that keep you and any helpers safe and free from potential accidents. At every stage, check and re-check the instructions, and if you have any doubts, stop what you’re doing and check the paperwork again. If you’re in any form of a hurry during these procedures, there’s a good chance that things will go wrong, so take your time. An extra hour or two making sure everything is right can be of benefit for many years.

Of course, if you have any misgivings about installing a gazebo yourself, our experts will be happy to take on the role instead. We have the knowledge, the experience and the tools to ensure a perfect installation, one that takes all the stress away from your shoulders.
